Q:   Do you need a reservation?
A:Reservations are required in winter and strongly encouraged in the spring/summer/fall.  Reservations are required (year round) for groups of ten or more. Calling ahead helps us to be better prepared to serve you and helps keep you from waiting behind large groups. In the event that you should stop by without a reservation, we will do our best to accommodate you.

Q:  Do you have age and weight restrictions for riding?
A: Participants MUST be 7 years or older to ride in a lesson or on trail. Pony rides are available to children younger than 7. These are offered near the stable area rather than on trail. At this time, participants should be less than 250 lb.

The current weight restriction is no reflection on our desire to serve each and every guest who visits Kiddy Up With Horses Ranch. Due to the stature of the horses in our herd, we are only able to offer  lessons based on the above criteria. This helps us to better care for our guests and the horses in our herd. It will also allow us to safely offer lessons and trail rides for years to come.

Q:  Can my child ride with  me?
A: We are not able to offer double riding, due to industry safety standards.

Q:  What if I have never ridden a horse before?
A: We are able to accommodate first-time riders and each trail begins with a demonstration where you are shown how we ask our horses to walk, trot, stop, etc.

Q:  Are riding helmets available or required?
A: Helmets are provided at no additional charge and they are required for all persons riding at KUWH.  Safety is very important and we encourage  their use for adults.

Q:  What should I wear or bring with me?
A:  Cowboy boots (lace-ups or pull-ons) are the preferred shoe while riding but tennis shoes are also acceptable. Flip-flops or other open-toed shoes will not be permitted. Denim jeans or long pants serve as a barrier to prevent any chafing while sitting on a leather saddle. They also help to protect from any 'brush' that you may encounter on trail.

Q:  What time should I check in?
A: Check-in for your trail time begins no later than fifteen minutes before your ride. This allows you to get settled before heading down to the stables and helps keep us on schedule. In the event that you arrive later than the time of your scheduled ride, you may need to wait for the next available riding time.

Q:  What happens if it rains/snows?
A:  We are happy to allow you to reschedule if you feel that the weather is less than desirable riding is not permitted during severe weather such as thunder/lightning, hail, or heavy ice during winter. This is for the safety of our guests.
